Red Earth Creek Community Hall
The Red Earth Creek Community Hall was developed to serve both the community of Red Earth Creek and the nearby Loon River Cree First Nation, creating a shared gathering place where residents can come together for meetings, celebrations, cultural events, and recreation. Designed with input from leaders from both communities, the facility reflects local priorities while providing a welcoming space that supports connection and community growth.
Working in partnership with Seko Construction through a design-build delivery model allowed the project team to align design, budget, and construction goals from the beginning. This collaborative approach helped streamline decision-making and ensured the facility delivered maximum value while meeting the needs of both communities. A key project goal was to create a highly versatile building without exceeding the municipality's budget. The final design includes flexible gathering and activity spaces, food service areas, and a stage for cultural ceremonies and presentations. Durable, low-maintenance materials and enhanced insulation were selected to support long-term performance and year-round use in northern Alberta's climate.
As both communities continue to grow and thrive, the Red Earth Creek Community Hall will serve as an important place for gathering, learning, and celebrating together, strengthening relationships and fostering a stronger sense of community for years to come.
